Similarities & Differences
1) Difference - Well ancient buildings are different than modern buildings. In ancient times we created temples and we made it all from marble but now we usually make things from bricks.
2) Difference - Another thing you may not know is that in ancient Rome, people dug out holes in the buildings because there was gold in the holes, but now we just polish it out and make it look like nothing was inside and it was pure but it is actually taken out and polished.
3) Difference - Michelangelo was a man who made abstract unique sculptures like his sculptures called the prisoners as they were sculptures he made of people that weren’t fully carved out which meant they were imprisoned in the stone. Now all we do is make colorful, common, boring, drab art.
4) Difference - Another great fun fact is that in the colosseum there are arches to support the weight of people. That is different because now we just keep using stacks and stacks of hard bricks.
5) Difference - The weirdest thing ever is that the Romans greatest buildings were sculptures which is the true art of all of their modern society, these 3-D portraits mean many things like the sculpture the David in Florence who had hearts in his eyes which meant he was seeing his loved ones. Now, we don’t do such beauty, all we do is paintings but we should do more sculptures which is last century but admired art.
6) Difference - A really famous building in Rome is called the Pantheon which was the memorial for Raphael Sanzio, a great artist back in the time of the Renaissance. The pantheon has a hole on the top used for a sundial inside the Pantheon. That is different because most of the memorials we make today show the tomb bravely but Raphael rather wanted to be buried in the piece of art that he made.
7) Similarity- The Pantheon is like the Parthenon because in the front there is are pillars. Plus they both are Religious buildings, or temples, and they both have statues of gods.
8) Similarity- The Colosseum is like the wrestling match of its time. People came to watch people fight.
9) Difference- The In the Colosseum people use arcs. Nowadays we use domes. Example: White house.
10) Similarities- The Colosseum is a building that can be flooded, and nowadays we still use that system to start up the swimming pool.
11) The Pantheon is a famous Roman architecture which has columns and many modern buildings nowadays use columns.
12) Difference AND ALSO A Similarity Many Roman monuments are made for the Gods but here in Washington D.C. All of the monuments are made for the past presidents and important people.
13) Similarity The colosseum was used for sport events and acting out myth and in stadiums there are sport events and concerts now
14) Similarity In Rome the Hypogeum led to the Spolarium in which dead people went to and in the Colosseum people were killed.
15) Similarity/Difference: Most Roman architecture is based off of a legend or myth. There are many statues and buildings of Roman architecture. Other Roman Architecture is for us humans, and not myths. The Colosseum is a great example of what I’m explaining. The Colosseum was used by the Romans as a place to entertain people. From what i’ve heard, the gods never really used the Colosseum.
16) Similarity - Most of Rome’s architecture uses arches or columns because they helped with the structure of the building or structure
17) Difference - Some of the most famous architecture of Rome was used for killing and entertainment (ex. Colosseum) while others are used for the opposite, such as praying or worshipping and sacrificing (ex. Pantheon or famous temples)
18) Difference - The people in Roe had big bathhouses were everyone would bathe in and we have showers for personal use. Also their water heating system is different from ours and is changed based on the architecture style and structure.
19) Similarity - The Romans used to have many temples, and still do, and in our world today their are many different religious places and temples which people go to worship and their architecture is different based on their religion.
20) (Similarity) The Pantheon and Coliseum are both related because the Pantheon was a temple and the Coliseum acted out the gods adventure’s.
21) (Difference)The Spoliarium had a difference with the pantheon were different because pantheon was a temple and the Spoliarium was used for death places.
22)(Difference)The Trajan market and the Coliseum are different because the trajan market took money, the Coliseum gave items that they bought.
23) (Similarity)The aqueducts took water from other places and the and the factory's clean the water in modern times now and this architecture is very important and helps us get fresh water.
